Research lines:

  • Define the importance of gene variations in the context of susceptibility, prognosis and response to therapy of various priority diseases for the IMSS in our Mexican population.

  • Tuberculosis. We study the variations in genes that are involved in the immune response, which confer susceptibility to the development of infection, also including those variants involved in the phenomenon of drug resistance and adverse response to first-line anti-tuberculosis therapy.

  • We currently work on urological cancers, especially prostate and bladder cancer, in addition to liver carcinoma, which has a tendency to increase in Mexico due to the obesity and diabetes pandemic affecting our population. In order to obtain genomic markers that allow us to identify individuals at higher risk.
